Lincolnshire Secure Unit

Lincolnshire Secure Unit is situated in the market town of Sleaford approx 20 miles south of Lincoln. This 12 bedded Local Authority Secure Children’s Home gives the highest level of care and education for young people placed via the courts for youth justice or welfare reasons. In 2009 the unit was extended and fully refurbished ensuring the continued development of resources and providing the optimum environment for the young people to enhance their life opportunities.
Young people are assessed on admit and the data obtained is used to formulate individual teaching programmes and provides the baseline for tracking progress and subsequently ILP’s. We offer a wide range of courses including GCSE’s, BTEC, Entry Levels and Functional Skills and strive to:
• Improving motivation and therefore attendance
• Raising self esteem
• Improving behaviour
• Building positive relationships between students and staff
At Lincolnshire Secure Unit alongside the sterling work done by our own staff we also have outside agencies and individuals coming to the unit. All of these visitors are chosen for their vested interests in the work we do. Many of the visitors come back and want to do more work trying to help the young people in our care. At the last Ofsted inspection (January 2011), the unit’s education provision was judged to be GOOD.
